If you’ve ever needed to clean up a hand sketch or convert an old printed drawing into a workable digital file, you know it can be a pain. Traditionally, you’d need to manually vectorize or a third-party service to get a clean vector file. HP has made the process incredibly easy with a feature built into their mobile app. You can now scan a drawing using your HP plotter and vectorize it directly from your phone.

It is important to have your phone and HP plotter connected to the same network. As well has ensuring your plotter is on the newest firmware update.
Here’s how it works
1. Scan your drawing into the plotter
– Load your drawing into the HP plotter the same way you normally would.
2. Open the HP app As soon as the drawing has been inserted into the scanner
– Click on the hamburger in top left hand corder
– the HP app will automatically display the image on your phone.
– Click Scan and AI Vectorize
– The app instantly recognizes the plotter connected to your network, Click the plotter you are choose to scan with
– Simply hit scan from the app and watch as the drawing scans automatically on the plotter
– Review the scan prior to vectorizing to ensure the drawing looks correct
– Click next
– Lastly hit AI Vectorize
Once this process has been complete, wait for an email from HP Build workspace notifying you that your file has been vectorized. Lastly, once it is ready to view, simply view the vectorized file from HP Build.
